How to add and remove widgets
None of Weft's widgets are required. A fresh dashboard starts with a starter layout, not the full set, so adding one is something you'll do the first week, not just once.
Opening the widget picker
Two ways in, same picker either way:
- 1The add-widget button in the dock, at the bottom of the dashboard.
- 2Settings (Cmd/Ctrl+,), on the Widgets tab, which opens there by default.
Browsing and adding
The picker has a search box and four category filters: All, Productivity, Utilities, and Personal. Every card in it renders the actual widget, not a static screenshot, so what's shown is exactly what you'll get. Click a card to add it, no separate placement step, it lands directly on the dashboard where there's room. If it offers a size option, you can set that immediately or change it later from the widget's own settings.
Removing a widget
In Edit Mode, every widget shows an X. Click it and the widget disappears from the dashboard immediately, but a toast with an Undo button stays up for a few seconds afterward. Its actual content, your tasks, links, saved items, whatever it was holding, isn't deleted until that toast times out with no undo. A few widgets, Links and Entertainment among them, can be added more than once, useful for splitting categories across separate cards; most others are one per dashboard.
Honest limits
Not every widget works the moment it's added. Stocks and Sports both need you to supply your own free API key before they'll show data, and Prayer needs location permission to calculate times. None of that happens automatically on add, each widget walks you through its own setup the first time.
The rest of it
Once a widget is on the dashboard, moving or resizing it is Edit Mode's job, not the picker's, covered in its own guide.
