How to customize wallpaper and theme
Appearance is the one settings tab that changes how the dashboard looks rather than what it does: wallpaper first, theme underneath it.
Opening Appearance
Cmd/Ctrl+, opens Settings, then the Appearance tab in the vertical tab list on the left.
Choosing a wallpaper
Four sources, switchable from a strip at the top of the panel:
- 1Random photo, the default: a new photo on a set rotation, pulled from a photo API.
- 2Colors: solid colors, gradients, or a handful of built-in default images, picked one at a time.
- 3Upload: your own image, either from a URL or a file on your device.
- 4Saved: wallpapers you've explicitly saved for later, so you can switch back to a favorite without re-uploading it.
Theme
Above the wallpaper picker sits a Theme row with two options. Dark is selected and that's currently the only one that works, Light is visible but marked "Coming soon" and can't be selected yet.
Honest limits
Light theme isn't a hidden setting, it genuinely isn't built yet, the option exists in the UI ahead of the feature. If a random photo doesn't land, there's no lasting harm: it just rotates to the next one, and anything you actually want to keep belongs in Saved instead of left to the rotation.
The rest of it
Appearance only touches the backdrop. Everything sitting on top of it, the widgets themselves, is added, moved, and resized from elsewhere, covered in their own guides.
